The descriptions below
are not meant to be a substitute for the Massachusetts
Automobile Insurance Policy. Always refer to your policy
for the exact terms and conditions for your automobile
insurance.
Pays for damages to anyone injured or killed by your car
only in Massachusetts, up to a basic limit of $20,000 per
person and $40,000 per accident. Injuries to the driver
or passengers in your car are not covered. See Optional
Bodily Injury to Others if you drive outside Massachusetts
or if you drive with guests in your car.
This covers you, anyone else in your car, and pedestrians,
regardless of fault for:
~ medical expenses
~ 75% of lost wages
~ replacement services
PIP pays up to $8,000 for these damages.
NOTE: Excludes people on motorcycles.
Protects you, household members and passengers (unless
covered by another Mass policy with similar coverage)
against medical expenses and lost earnings caused by
an uninsured or unidentified ("hit and run")
driver. A minimum limit of $20,000 per person and $40,000
per accident is required. ~The cost to increase this
coverage is minimal. However, the limit cannot be higher
than Part 5.
Pays for damage to another person's property damage,
and costs associated with the loss of use of that property,
when you , a household member or authorized driver cause
an accident. A minimum limit of $5,000 is required. ~We
recommend $100,000 for this coverage as it costs an average
of $2 to increase the limit from $50,000 to $100,000.
This extends your coverage out-of-state and for guest
occupants that are excluded from Part 1. This is your
lawsuit protection.
~If you have any assets you wish to protect such as a
home we recommend increasing this limit to $100,000/$300,000.
Covers medical expenses for you, your household members
and passengers, over and above amounts covered by PIP
regardless of fault. The minimum you can buy is $5,000.
~We recommend this coverage especially for people insuring
motorcycles as you have no coverage under PIP. The cost
is relatively cheap for the coverage.
Pays for collision damages to your car, regardless of
fault. If your car is financed, your lender may require
you to carry this coverage.
The standard deductible for this coverage is $500. For
most people this is the most cost effective deductible.
Waiver of Deductible: If you are 50% or less at fault
and can identify the other party, your deductible will
be waived.
Pays for collision damage, but only if you are 50% or
less at fault and can identify the other party.
This covers damage to your car other than by collision.
Such as fire, theft, vandalism, and glass breakage. This
coverage includes up to $15 a day for substitute transportation
until your stolen auto is recovered (up to a limit of
$450). If your car is financed, your lender may require
you to carry this coverage.
The standard deductible for this coverage is $500. However,
depending upon your situation it may be more cost effective
to have a $300 deductible.
Pays up to $15 ($450 limit) a day for car rental or other
transportation costs, including taxi, bus or train fare,
while your car is undergoing collision repairs. Coverage
of $30 ($900 limit) and $100 ($3,000 limit) a day is
available for additional cost.
~If you choose this coverage we strongly recommend you
choose a higher limit as it is almost impossible to find
a rental car for $15 a day.
Pays up to $50 for towing and labor charges each time
your car breaks down. Repair parts are not covered. Coverage
of up to $100 is available for an additional cost.
~Please note effective Jan. 1, 2002 the $25 limit is
no longer available.
Protects you, household members and passengers (unless
covered by another Mass policy with similar coverage)
for bodily injury damages when the accident is caused
by someone without enough insurance.
~The cost to increase this coverage is minimal. However,
the limit cannot be higher than Part 5. |
